About Trio Callisto
Trio Callisto, founded in 2005, is a Minneapolis based ensemble whose members are flutist Linda Chatterton, cellist Sally Gibson Dorer and harpist Min Kim. The trio has performed on Minnesota Public Radio and has been featured a number of times on National Public Radio's "Performance Today." The ensemble's unique instrumentation allows for a rich variety of styles, colors and contrasts, showcased through a diverse repertoire that includes works by Marais, Ravel, Damase, Rameau, and contemporary composers Adrienne Albert and David Kechley. The trio is committed to increasing the repertoire for this instrumentation through writing their own transcriptions and commissioning new works, and has worked with the American Composers Forum "Call for Scores" program. Trio Callisto has presented educational programs in schools and community centers, and is on the roster of Young Audiences, Inc. of Minnesota. Trio Callisto has also received a South Dakota State Arts Grant to present concerts in South Dakota in 2008 and 2009. Recent concerts include performances on the First at Five Chamber Music Series at First Universalist Church, Minneapolis; the Harmony for Mayo Series in Rochester; and a performance at Orchestra Hall, Minneapolis. The trio's name, "Callisto," means "most beautiful" in Greek; in Greek mythology, Callisto was a nymph who was loved by Zeus.
